Carrie (Caroline) Sorochynski

Caroline but as we all know her by Carrie was born August 10, 1924 with her twin sister Mary to John and Julia Sichewski in Horod area, she passed on August 28 in Shoal Lake she just celebrated her 95th birthday a few weeks ago.  She was one of six Children. She grew up and went to school in Horrid. She met Nick Sorochynski and they got married in 1946. After they got married, they had there first son Ted in 1947, they bought some farmland in Kelloe and moved there. There was no house there at the time just a few grain bins so the they moved into one of the bins till they could build a house in 1948. In 1950 she had twin boys Peter and Paul. She loved being on the farm and worked very hard on the farm from raising chickens to milking cows and feeding pigs.  She had many passions which included gardening, baking and sewing. Everyday in the summer she was in her garden she loved being in there and took pride of all her hard work her favorite was her strawberries. If she wasn’t in her garden, she was in the kitchen making buns, doughnuts, cookies which the family loved, perogies and the list goes on she was still baking in to her early 90. She enjoyed her family and friends she loved it when we all could get together for holidays. She loved playing card games with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She lived at home till after Paul passed away then she moved into Morley house at the age 91 till her passing. Baba lived a good long life she faced many challenges over the years and powered through them she was strong women and will be missed. She predeceased by her parents John and Julia her husband Nick her son Paul her twin sister Mary her other sister Emily and her brothers Pete, Nick and Bill. She survived by her sons Ted (Shirley) of Brandon MB, Peter (Debbie) of Dauphin, MB. Four Grandchildren Monica (Kirk) Lamb of Neepawa MB, Carolyn (Jason) Wolaniuk of Taber, AB, Shannon (Andy) Gibson of London, England and Daniel (Carmon) of Winnipeg, MB.  Six great grand children: Nicholas, Makayla, Nicole, Cody, Drew and Ethan. Her sister in-law Sophie Raginski and many nieces and nephews. Funeral service was on August 31 2019 at St. Helen’s Roman Catholic church in Shoal Lake, MB and interment followed after at St. Helen’s Cemetery. The family would like to thank the following Father Michael Savarimuthu who officiated, the pallbearers Kirk Lamb, Cody Lamb, Nicholas Wolaniuk, Daniel Sorochynski, Makayla Lamb and Ed Zatylny, Cross bearer Nicole Wolaniuk and the Eulogists Carolyn & Nicole Wolaniuk. Also like to thank Shauna and staff at Rae’s funeral home for the arrangements and the Morley House for looking after her till her passing, also like to thank everyone who was able to come out to celebrate her life. May she rest in Peace.
