Annie Bart Obituary

My mom Annie was a compassionate and caring woman who loved her family with every cell of her being. She’s the third in a family of 8 children born to Sam and Nellie Slobodesky in 1930.

After working in many jobs as a farm aid and in a restaurant, she met my dad Louis Bart and they married in 1950. In 1957 she was predeceased by her stillborn infant son Jonnie and a year later I was born.

Our family farmed on a mixed farm 2 miles north and 2 1/2 miles east of Rossburn for 27 years. There over the years she milked cows, tended to chickens and pigs and many family dogs and cats, looked after a huge vegetable garden and tended to beautiful flowers. She liked to sew and did lots for family and friends. And she helped with baling and combining and pitching bales and working the land right along side my dad. She liked to crochet and knit and she did some paintings in in water colours. And she often would host many family members for Christmas, New Years of other family events.

After retiring from the farm, they moved to a small 12-acre hobby farm within walking distance just south of Rossburn. She started to work at the Rossburn District Health Center as part time casual worker and the took a full position in the laundry department for 13 and a half years.

Many health issues and family issues took place and Annie and Louis retired from the hobby farm and moved into Brandon. Annie and Louis took on the responsibility of looking after my 2 children while I healed in the hospital after a terrible auto accident. Eventually they moved in with me due to other frightening health issues. In that time, she continued to enjoy gardening, crocheting and knitting and she started to paint in oils and acrylic paints. She produced many most beautiful paintings of scenery and animals and flowers that she’d sell at numerous craft sales in Manitoba.

My mom Annie had a wonderful sense of humour and would make you laugh in an instant. After my dad Louis passed away, she ran the little greenhouse in our yard for 20 years and grew vegetables and flowers from seed for our own gardens. She also took a big part in raising her 2 great grandchildren until they went to school. And completely enjoyed our 2 little dogs that were her constant companions.

For much of my mom’s life she struggled with many challenging health issues. But through it all her faith stayed a constant very strong element of her life. She prayed regularly many times a day and continued to do so till nearly her last breath.

We will miss your pretty blue eyes and your sense of humour and your loving hugs.

May you rest from your earthly struggles and find peace in our Lords loving presence.
