It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Barbara Anne Osadec at the age of 72 on September 2, 2023, at the Brandon Regional Health Centre, surrounded by her family. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Barbara was born on October 1, 1950, in the RM of Harrison to William and Ann Harasymchuk. Growing up on a farm just outside of Sandy Lake, Manitoba, Barbara attended her school years in Sandy Lake.
In 1968, Barbara met Lawrence John Osadec, and they embarked on a 50-year journey of marriage together, sharing the highs and lows of life. In 1980, Barbara began her long career at the Sandy Lake Personal Care Home as an Aide, where she brought joy and laughter to the halls. In 1982, Laurence and
Barbara became the proud owners of the Sandy Lake Sel-Rite Store, which they operated for many years.
Barbara was a beloved parent to her only son, Jeff, a loving mother-in-law to Jeff’s wife, Pamela, and cherished spending time with granddaughters Anna and Emilia. She is survived by her son Jeff, wife Pamela, granddaughters Anna and Emilia, sister-in-law Marilyn Harasymchuk of Winnipeg, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Lawrence, father William Harasymchuk, mother, Ann Harasymchuk, brothers Steve and Metro Harasymchuk, and sister Mary Usick.
Barbara was renowned for her culinary skills, filling the store with the amazing aroma of her cooking. She was a prolific reader and, for some time, assumed the role of writing the Sandy Lake and area news for the Minnedosa Tribune. Barbara will be remembered for her unwavering support and as a tower of strength for her family and friends. She possessed the patience to listen and always had keen insights and words of wisdom drawn from her years of life experience.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to all those who have offered their support and condolences during this difficult time.
