Barrie peacefully passed away at the Hamiota Personal Care Home on January 27th, 2023,  at the age of 85 years. 

He is survived by his son Dean (Shirley) Sim and grandchildren Tammy and Christine Sim; brother Keith Sim.  He was predeceased by his wife Darlene Sim (Johns) and his two sons David and Richard (Rick) Sim. 

Barrie was born June 8th, 1937, in Hamiota, Manitoba.  He married Darlene Johns on November 7th, 1959.  They farmed in Hamiota their first few years of marriage during which time they had three sons.  They then made the move to Thompson, Manitoba, in August of 1968. Barrie worked for INCO mines as an underground miner and open pit operator during this time. He retired in the year 1993 and moved back to Hamiota, Manitoba.  

Barrie enjoyed passing time by playing golf, curling and visiting with family and friends.  

The family would like to extend their sincere  gratitude and thanks to the nurses, doctors, and staff at the Birch Lodge Personal Care Home in Hamiota, Manitoba, for their care and kindness of both Barrie and Darlene during their time there.
