DARCY THOMAS PURDY was born on August 18th, 1957, in Hamiota, being the last baby born to Ronald and Margaret Purdy. He was the youngest brother of Delmar, Bruce, Bryan and baby sister Jill. As he was only 5 years older than his oldest brother’s daughter, Della, she and Darcy grew up as brother and sister and even though it was her “Uncle” he was her brother in every way.
He grew up on the farm between his parent’s farm, Ronald & Margaret and his brother Delmar’s farm south of Shoal Lake. He attended school in Shoal Lake, but it soon became very apparent that his love of the farm and cattle would take over all of his time and energy. He belonged to the 4H Beef club for many years and held the position of President many times. He had the honour of having Grand Champion Steers many times over the years. He enjoyed almost every Tuesday at the Strathclair Auction Mart. He was also an avid hockey Dad and hardly ever missed his boy’s hockey games over the years.
He was a very respected cattleman over the years and worked hard every day of his life. He loved the cattle industry, from Hereford to Simmental to Shorthorn to his beloved prize herd of Speckled Park cattle that he recently got into and was proud of. He also ran a bull lease/sale programme and had many of them producing prize calves all over western Canada.
He was truly a devoted partner to Sylvia, father to Scott and Dean and Meredith, grandfather to Dayce, Wyatt, Waylon and a wonderful uncle (brother) to Della. The best of friends with Randy McIntyre, Bruce and Peggy Trojanowski, Leonard Hullick and many others.
Darcy was predeceased by his parents, Ron & Margaret Purdy, his brother Delmar, sister-in-law Frances, his kid brother, Bruce, brother Bryan just this past summer. He leaves to mourn and is survived by his loving partner, Sylvia, sons, Scott Purdy, Dean Purdy (Meredith), niece, Della Purdy, grandchildren, Dayce, Wyatt and Waylon Purdy and also many friends and fellow cattlemen!

TEQUILA to you Darcy!
