With sadness the family of Del Gorrell, of Onanole, MB, announce his passing on Sunday February 26th, 2023 at the age of 77. He passed away at the Assiniboine Centre in Brandon peacefully with the love of his life his wife Jan (Janieth) and his family by his side.
He was born in Nipawin Saskatchewan on June 7th 1945. The family moved to Atikokan, Ontario where he received his education.
Del wore many titles: husband, dad, brother, son, friend, and his best know title “Buddy” which his grandchildren called him.
He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, snowmobiling, and fishing.
Del lived in Rossburn and worked at Manco for many years. There he and Jan raised their two children. They lived in town until 1986, then moved to Jan’s family farm.
Both enjoyed travel by air, cruise ship, resorts or ground tours to various destinations including Australia which was his favorite provided many excellent memories. They belonged to a RV group and enjoyed traveling the countryside and spending time with friends. They met many wonderful people through this group.
For 11 winters they drove down to Arizona and were part of a 55 plus community. Del enjoyed monitoring at the woodworking shop, biking, park activities, and spending time with family and new and old friends.
Del will be remembered for his sense of humour, his laugh and his stories. He was blessed with many life long friendships.
He is survived by his wife Jan, their children Cheryl and Jason, his son-in-law Michael and daughter-in-law Heidi, his grandchildren Ariel, Keelin (Ariel’s husband), Patrick, Dustin, and Hailey, his sisters Melody, Caroline, Penny and Trudy, his brothers Wayne, Bill and Dale, his sister-in-law’s Janice, Janet and Janean, his brother-in-law’s Elwyn and Fred.
Del was predeceased by his mother Thora, father Wylie, brother Ken, mother in-law Bertha, father in-law Pat, sister in-law Jeanie, and brother in-law Mitch.
A celebration of Del’s life will take place on June 7th, 2023 at Onanole Recreation Centre 386 Central Road at 2:00 pm.
