It’s with the Deepest sorrow, we announce the passing of Derek Kristalovich, age 40 a beloved son, brother, uncle, family member and friend passed away on Saturday, July 18th, 2020 while at the Brandon Regional Hospital.
Derek was born September 1979 in Minnedosa, MB to Cecil and Dayle Kristalovich and resided in Alexander for most of his years. Over the years Derek fought many battles in regards to his health but he never let that hold him back. Derek always managed to succeed in the face of adversary. He was there when you needed help, and his love for family and friends always came first. Derek had a passion for tinkering with small engines, hunting and fishing. His most loved past times were always being at family functions, where he would always be found playing with all the kids, spending time at his uncle's farm, or sitting beside a fire. One of the greatest joys in his life would be the times he spent with his niece and nephew, whether it was playing cars or building lego, he was always the first one they would ask to play. When you first met Derek it was his great sense of humour and infectious laugh that would draw you to him. After you spent more time with him all his other attributes came shining through. Derek was so full of life, and he had the ability to make you laugh or smile even on a bad day, and was able to change your outlook of life forever.
Derek is survived by his father, Cecil Kristalovich, mother Dayle Kristalovich, sister Dana Kristalovich (Curtis), niece Elliott, nephew Nolan, and many wonderful aunts, uncles and cousins.
Those who knew Derek were touched by his presence, his strength and his determination. Derek was a shining light in our lives that will now be lost but never forgotten.
