Donnie was the seventh child and the third son born February 8, 1950 to Stanley and Victoria Drozda in the R.M. of Rossburn. He received his grade 1-8 education at Olha School and graduated from Oakburn Collegiate in 1968.
Upon completing his schooling Donnie continued to work on the family farm. Donnie knew he would never be a full time farmer, so on February 8, 1974 he began on-the-job training for a Nurse’s Aide at the Shoal Lake Morley House Personal Care Home.
He met Gaile Borody in January of 1993 and they were married on June 25, 1994 and made their home in Oakburn.
On May 23, 2001 Donnie retired from his Nurse’s Aide job at the Morley House with 27 years and 2 months of continuous dedicated service.
Donnie then helped his brother Mervin on the family farm. He enjoyed visiting with family, friends and neighbours, usually sharing a joke for a good laugh.
He was a member of St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church and served as a elder for several years.
Donnie was predeceased by his wife Gaile, his parents Stanley and Victoria, brothers Delmar and Ron, sisters Naddia, Lena and Phyllis and brothers-in-law Water Swereda and Steve Koltusky.
He is survived by sister Marion, brother Mervin, sister-in-law Rose Marie and brother-in-law Leonard, 5 nephews, 2 nieces and extended family.
