It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our Mom, Dorothy Derkach (Safroniuk) nee Kasprick, on April 28, 2020 at the Erickson Personal Care Home at the age of 86 years.
Dorothy was born on April 18, 1934 near Eden, Manitoba to Sylvester and Veronica Kasprick, the7th of 12 children. She spent her childhood on the farm near Eden and received her education at Eden and Empire schools. In 1954 she married John Safroniuk and moved to the Safroniuk homestead near Mountain Road where they raised 4 children. Dorothy was widowed in 1974 when John lost his life in a tragic accident.

Dorothy and Alex raised a grandson, Kenny Derkach, as their own, who kept them young. They loved hockey and she and Alex put many miles on watching Kenny chase the puck. She was famous for her cooking especially perogies, borscht, sauerkraut soup and her love of gardening.
