Fred Saley Obituary

Fred Saley was born on September 9, 1937 at Mears Manitoba to Michael and Annie Saley.

He was a only child and had many interests. He worked on the family grain and cattle farm and continued to do that after his parents retired in 1988.

Fred was very proud of his prince albert saw mill. The wider the board the happier Fred was.

Fred also spent many hours on his sewing machines. He had a machine for every task. One for canvass, one for the light leather and one for harness leather. He enjoyed making fancy horse harness and dressing horses for local parades.

He was a avid photographer and his photos will be enjoyed for many generations to come.

In the evenings Fred enjoyed recording his favorite music. he was very particular and which Ukrainian music was good enough to record. Ephraine Sacharko was one of his favorite bands.

Fred was very well known in his community and every auctioneer knew Fred. He traveled to many sales sometimes attending two in a day.

On October 27, 2015 Fred suffered a home invasion by three men. Fred suffered unimaginable physical and mental distress. The intruders terroized Fred for more then 4 hours causing Fred long lasting mental stress. He spent 7 days in hospital and when released he was too scared to return home His first cousin Larry Sidlar took him in and there he remained for 2 years.

On August 8, 2018 Fred was placed in the Grandview Personal Care Home. The staff enjoyed Fred's sense of humour.

He passed away on March 2, 2024 at the age of 86.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
