George Ranick Obituary

At the age of 79 George, known to many as Butch, passed away quietly at Sandy Lake Personal Care Home where he spent his last years. Prior to Sandy Lake he spent many years living in Erickson Manitoba settling into small town life in a beautiful place in Riding Mountain National Park.

Butch was born and grew up in Winnipeg the oldest of four children where he worked for Boeing Aerospace and for many years as a custodian for Winnipeg School Division. Butch was a softly spoken man with a good sense of humour and a twinkle in his eye who enjoyed golfing and bowling in his younger years. He was predeceased by his mother Rose Ranick (Sokolsky) father and his sister Debbie Allard (Ranick). He is survived by his children Wendy and Jay. his brother Jim Ranick and sister Linda Mikula.

An interment of his ashes will be held at a later date at Thompson In The Park with arrangements being handled by Rae’s Funeral Service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Bruce Oake Recovery Centre in Winnipeg in the hopes that anyone struggling with addiction like Butch did for much of his life can get the help they need. We would like to extend our heartfelt thank you to the staff at Sandy Lake Personal Care Home who showed genuine care and compassion to Butch.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
