Georgina Woychyshyn Obituary

With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life well lived, we announce the passing of Georgina Luhowy Woychyshyn. A devoted Mother, Baba and Bousha, who departed this life peacefully on Tuesday September 30th at the age of 86.

Born in the RM of Rossburn to Sam and Lena (Kowal) Brown on May 12th, 1939 she was the fourth child of nine children.

Finding love at an early age, she married Tony Luhowy on September 25th, 1957 in Oakburn, Manitoba. Their journey found them making their home and raising their family on the farm across from Tony’s parents. Moving their young family to Winnipeg and later back to Rossburn.

Mom was the foundation of our family – a woman of endless generosity and unwavering love. Her life was not defined by grand achievements or public accolades, but by the countless small moments in which she gave her heart to others. Mom dedicated many years of her life to nursing, caring for others with compassion and love. She was a member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Ukrainian Catholic Church , the CWL and served as Treasurer for the church for a number of years. She could always be found in the kitchen when the ladies were making perogies.

She found joy in caring for her family, pride in the generations she helped raise, and purpose in the love she gave so freely. Her giving spirit will be remembered and carried forward by those who were fortunate to receive it. We will all miss the endless supply of perogies, cabbage rolls, baking and homemade noodles. She and Tony raised their children Tim, Tina and Terry with love and grace, and took great joy in watching the family grow across generations. Her 10 grandchildren and 22 great children were the lights of her life – each one held close in her heart, each one forever touched by her presence. Her family was her greatest pride, and she never missed a moment to show her love and support.

She was preceded in death by her husband Tony and her son Tim, along with many dear family members who passed before her.

She is survived by her loving children Cory, Tina & Darryl and Terry & Susan, 10 Grandchildren and 22 Great Grandchildren, which she lovingly referred to as her GG Babies, and many other family members and friends who continue to honour her memory. Though she has left this world, the lessons she taught, the love she gave, the traditions she passed down and the strength she showed throughout her journey will remain with us always.

Forever loved, forever missed.
