It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Grace passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 18th, 2021 at the age of 87.
Grace was born on May 21, 1934 in Strathclair, Manitoba. In 1952, Grace married Fred and moved to Elphinstone for a short period before moving with their twin sons, Fred Jr. and Ted, to Erickson.
Grace worked at the Erickson Creamery for several years before working at the Erickson Elementary School as the lunch coordinator. Grace then became employed at the Erickson Health Centre as head cook until her retirement in 1986.
Grace truly enjoyed gardening, all her flowers, hosting gatherings at her farm, attending church and making perogies with her friends. Grace was also an avid curler and competed in many bonspiels over the years throughout the area and was a regular in Erickson. She also looked forward to the many bus tours she had taken with her friends and family. When they were younger, her grandsons would spend summers with Grace, where she would take them camping. It was during these times together that Grace passed on her love for curling and the garden to one grandson while the other grandson, who became an electrician, made sure that his grandma had a phone in every room, that her house was updated and that she had Wi-Fi to be able to connect with her tablet. She had done so much for them, and the boys just wanted to make their grandma happy. Grace also passed on her talents of baking and cooking to them both. She was also very proud of her great grandchildren and felt fortunate to be able to pass on some of her many talents to them.
Grace was predeceased by her husband Fred, her mother Rose and father Metro, Sister Jean Chupa and brother-in-law Mike Chupa, Brothers Bill & Steve Pinuta, brothers-in-law Rudy Zurbyk and Frank Fiarchuk and sister-in-law Marion.
Left to Mourn Grace are her two sons, Fred Jr. (Bev) and Ted (Geraldine), grandsons T.J. (Melodie) and Daniel (Amy), great grandchildren Kylie, Tinsley, Van, Aria and Brody, her brother Dave (Diane) and sisters Elsie Zurbyk and Phyliss Fiarchuk as well as many nieces and nephews.
