Grant Fraser Obituary

Grant was raised in Newdale, MB. He obtained his education in Newdale and Strathclair. Grant moved to Winnipeg to earn his degree in Agriculture at the University of Manitoba. Grant married Marilyn (Sheridan) on August 24th, 1968. They began their family in Neepawa with the births of Janice and Kathy before moving to Basswood where Mark arrived. Grant lived in several more spots including Shoal Lake, Strathclair, and last setting down in Onanole, MB. Grant was a multi-talented man. His work ethic was developed as a young boy on the farm. After UofM he worked with the WhiteMud Water-shed conservation district. He was particularly proud of his work at Rosedale planting tree shelter belts and building a dam. Grant ran a custom crop spraying business and in the winter he enjoyed driving a logging truck. He loved being in the bush. Grant moved from the logging back roads to the open highway from which he retired. Grant’s retirement was brief when he resumed working somewhere he enjoyed, the Gerrard family farm. Grant valued his time with family, whether at the rodeo, rink, or camping in the mountains. Grant’s smile and handshake was the start of many friendships and extended visits. He sure loved people! Leaving to mourn are his sisters Jean and Marg (Knut), his children Janice, Kathy, and Mark, and his grandchildren Amy, Callie, and Sibyl.
