Hugh passed away at the Hamiota Hospital at the age of 76 years.
Hugh is predeceased by his parents Charles and Edna and his brother Jack. Hugh is survived by his sister Muriel (Carl), sister-in-law Lesa, and brother Glen (Sandra). He will be sadly missed by his nieces and nephews: Janice (Chris), Cara (Klayton), James (Kristen), Ruth (Dereck) and Chance, along with his many great nieces and nephews too.
Hugh was born in Shoal Lake. After finishing school, he took up farming with his father and mother on the south side of Shoal Lake. This was his main career choice of his life; except he obtained his class 1 licence and drove tanker trucks in the oil patch for a short while. He made a trip to New Zealand in February of 2009 to visit distant relatives. When retirement was upon him, he chose to settle in Hamiota Park Lodge and eventually sell the family farm. As a senior he managed some technology, he especially liked to share jokes and mastered the art of texting, which he used to keep in touch with family and friends. Hugh enjoyed traveling to visit relatives in Ontario and other places and was always up for a good game of cards. The family would like to thank the staff at Park Lodge retirement home for the excellent care they provided for Hugh during his residency there.
