Jean Zenchyshyn of Shoal Lake, Manitoba passed away on Friday, June 11, 2021 at the Morley House Personal Care Home at the age of 98 years.
Jean was born in the R. M. of Rossburn, Manitoba on September 28, 1922 to George and Pauline (Budz) Lazaruk. She was the youngest of eleven children. Jean attended Marconi School.
Jean married Mike Zenchyshyn on June 18, 1949 in Olha, Manitoba. Jean was a very faithful Catholic all of her life. Jean and Mike farmed in the Kelloe area and worked hard on the farm. She enjoyed tending to the chickens and pigs and always had a large garden. They had many good friends and neighbours on the farm.
After retiring from the farm, they moved to Brandon for a short time. In 1973, they built a home and moved back to Shoal Lake. She worked as a Nurses’ Aide at Morley House Personal Care Home for nine years and loved every minute of her work. After retiring she enjoyed time in her garden and tending to her flowers. She loved to entertain family and friends and had many friends they enjoyed playing cards with. Jean and Mike traveled to Hawaii, California, and enjoyed attending Dauphin Ukrainian Festival. She enjoyed playing bingo, listening to music, attending special parties, attending spiritual services, and visiting with her family and friends.
In 2017 Jean and Mike moved to Morley House. She was predeceased by her parents, all of her siblings and her husband Mike on March 22, 2019. Jean is survived by many nieces and nephews. Vichnaya Pam’yat!
