Jessie Caldwell passed away on Oct. 9, 2021 at the Rossburn Personal Care Home, at the age of 100 years and 7 months old. She along with her twin brother Gordon were born in 1921 to their parents Roy and Margaret Plant in Rossburn, MB. Jessie was a very active young girl. She was the caretaker at Valley School and as well as carrying water and wood, and cleaning floors, she had to also keep the horse barn clean. She married Eugene Caldwell in 1938 and farmed in the Rossburn area. She continued to be active having her own school bus and driving children to school for a number of years. She was also the caretaker of the Lions Manor. She belonged to the Birdtail W.I., volunteered on many local organizations and received a 65-year Life Membership in the Rossburn Health Centre Auxiliary. She loved company, ran a boarding place in her home for many young people working in the community. She loved baking and cooking, and no one was ever left out because they needed a ride to any function. She was predeceased by her husband Eugene in 1988, her twin brother and three sisters Ethel, Myrtle and Jean and daughter-in-law Doris. She leaves to mourn her son Ken and his three daughters and their families: Roxane and Leonard – Chase and Karissa; Denise and Perry – Breanne and Trevor; Tracey and Jamie – Joel and Alex; also her daughter Margie and her family: Dena and Mark – son Kaden. A memorial service will be held at a later date at the Rossburn Municipal Cemetery. If friends so desire contributions can be made to the Rossburn Personal Care Home. The family wants to give Dr. Roos and all the staff at the care home a very special thank you for the great care and kindness given to Jessie during her stay.
