It is with great sadness, the family of Lorraine (Kentel) Kreshewski, from Rossburn, announces her passing at the age of 88 on October 7, 2025.
As per mom’s wishes, a private service will be held on October 17, 2025 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Ukrainian Catholic Church.
Mom (Baba) was born February 12, 1937, to Chris and Alvina Kentel in the RM of Endcliff where she was raised with her 2 brothers and 3 sisters.
In 1959, Mom married Dad and together started their family and homestead outside of Rossburn where she remained until this fall. Side by side, they farmed the land, milked cows and raised chickens as well as drove the school bus for many years. Mom always had a large garden which she took great pride in and her canning that was shared with us all.
Her love for animals has been passed down through her children and grandchildren. Gunner sits by the treat cupboard waiting for his treat to this day and her cats continue to come to the step where she would have cat food out for them everyday.
Mom enjoyed spending time with her family and with 4 kids, brought 8 Grandchildren and 6 Great grandchildren whom she cherished and loved dearly. Anytime someone stopped by you would no sooner be in the door and she would have the kettle boiling for coffee and food on the table. “Eat, Eat” she would say and then “Eat some more”! Jujubes were a favorite and always available.
Mom loved Christmas decorating and together with Teresa, or whoever would lend a hand, they would have the yard lit up like a landing strip and the inside decorated to the max. Along with the decorating came an abundance of food; perogies, pereshke, cabbage rolls, and fish as well as plenty of dainties!
Mom was sure to teach us all her secrets on canning, making cabbage rolls, perogies, and pereshke which we will carry on and pass on for years to come.
She was predeceased by her Husband, William (Bill) in 2020, her father, and mother as well as her Brothers; Elmer and Wayne Kentel and her Sisters; Gail Halladay and Debbie Marshall.
She is survived by her loving children; Barry (Jean), Rob (TaraLee), Teresa (Darcy) Fiel, Brenda (Gordon) Frieze, 8 Grandchildren; Kristyn (Mike), Sheri, Carla (Trent), Melony, Stephanie (Troy), Brayden (Delaney), Shaelynn (Mikael), Kaleigh (Darcy), 6 Great Grandchildren; Hayley, Blake, Quinn, Jaxon, Gavin and Easton; Sister, Sharon Hamilton, as well as many other family members.
Baba, we hope you are enjoying your Salt n Vinegar chips, your Maple Walnut ice cream, and watching hockey and wrestling with Gida!
Rest in peace Mom! Your work here is done!
