Lucille Ann Marie (Rochelle) Lewandoski (1951 – 2024)
Lucille Ann Marie Lewandoski, affectionately known as Lou, passed away on June 15th, 2024, in Sandy Lake, Manitoba. The youngest daughter born to Ann and Nick Rochelle on January 12, 1951, in Shoal Lake, Manitoba, Lou’s life was a tapestry dedicated to helping others and serving her community.
Lucille’s journey began in Elphinstone, Manitoba where she grew up on the family farm and attended Elphinstone School through Grade 11. Moving to Neepawa, she graduated high school from Neepawa Area Collegiate in 1970. In September 1971 Lou pursued her passion for caring for others entering the nursing training program at Red River Community College in Winnipeg, Manitoba where she graduated in the summer of 1972. For 35 years she dedicated her livelihood to nursing where she eventually retired from the Sandy Lake Medical Nursing Home. It was also in 1972, on August 5th where Lou’s heart found its counterpart in Raymond Lewandoski. Their marriage was a testament to enduring love celebrated for 51 and a half years.
Lou’s life outside of nursing was rich in hobbies from crocheting to cooking. She loved watching curling, and her garden was her vibrant oasis. Her commitment to her community shone brightly through her volunteer work on various committees, but her most celebrated legacy was with the Sandy Lake Legion Ladies Auxiliary, a member for over 45 years.
Predeceased by her parents, Ann and Nick, and her sister Aleta. Lou’s memory is honored by her husband Raymond, her children, Garett and Marla-Rae and her grandchildren, Lane and Kelty.
Lou will be missed dearly, but her spirit will continue to guide and inspire all who were blessed to know her.
