Margaret Kowalick Obituary

It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of our dear mother, Margaret Kowalick on October 7, 2024 at the age of 87. She was born on January 1, 1937 to parents Samuel and Clara. Our mom was raised on a farm near Bethany, Manitoba. She attended school at Empire, later went to Bethany School and then finished her high school years in Minnedosa. She enjoyed curling, playing baseball and taking part in community dances and picnics. Mom would fondly reflect on her earlier years and often mentioned that if she could go back and relive those days she would. After completing her high school diploma, mom attended Normal School and then taught in a one-room school house near Ozerna, MB. Not long after she married our father, Peter on April 25, 1959 and during their 57 years of marriage they raised their six daughters and created a loving home on a farm they took great pride in. The simplest pleasures in life brought mom the greatest joy such as gatherings with family and friends including Sunday meals, outings, beach days at Jackfish lake, dances at Jackfish hall and playing cards and games. Our family home was loud and full of joy and laughter. Words that come to mind when describing our mother are generous, kind, selfless, welcoming, empathetic, and hard-working. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who was committed to her family. Our mom is predeceased by her husband, Peter Kowalick, her oldest daughter, Elaine Challborn, parents Samuel and Clara, her three sisters Hilda, Edith and Bernice, her brother Harvey and their spouses. She is survived by her son-in-law, Rodney Challborn (husband to daughter Elaine), and daughters Marie Gayowsky (husband Gordon and children Christopher (Quincy) and Bradley (Ashley), Linda Kowalick (partner Dennis Tiller), Janet Kowalick (partner Ace Ross) and their children Scott (Becky), Dylan (Kaleigh) and their children Sophie and Madison (Scott) and Rylee (Dylan), Carla Brown (partner David Howard) and their daughter Taylor (Adam) and Jackie Kowalick (partner Rick Grill) along with several loving nephews, nieces and cousins. Our mom was a special gift forever treasured and will never be forgotten.
