Marion Tomiski Obituary

Marion Margaret Tomiski from Birtle, MB passed away on December 6, 2024 at the Russell Hospital, at the age of 88 years. Marion was the middle of five children of the late Phillip and Elizabeth Tomiski. Marion was born in the RM of Miniota on January 7, 1936. Marion was raised on the family farm. She took her schooling in the Beulah school. After completing her school years she moved to Thunder Bay where she worked in the restaurant business. It was in Thunder Bay where her daughter Jo-Anne was born. She lived in Thunder Bay for a few years then moved back to Beulah where she helped on the farm. After her father Phillip passed away, she moved to Birtle where she lived for the rest of her life. During her working years in Birtle, she worked in the restaurants at the Robert Hotel and the Birtle Hotel. Marion was a mentor to many of the young girls that entered the work force. She loved the interaction with people and they all liked to tease her. In her younger years Marion like to curl and participated in many bonspiels. Marion was a huge hockey fan and rarely missed the kids hockey games, she was always there cheering them on. Marion was very talented at crocheting and knitting, her work won her many first place ribbons at the Birtle Ag Fair. She was a member of the Birtle Ag Society and a life-long participant at the fair. Marion was predeceased by her father and mother Phillip and Elizabeth Tomiski, brothers Jack and Stanley and sister Jean Tutkaluke sister-in-law Anne Tomiski and brother-in-law Mike Tutkaluke Marion is survived by her daughter Jo-Anne Hickman and husband Kevin, grandsons Dustin Hickman (Miranda), Chad Hickman (Michayla) and great grandson Deaken Hickman. Marion is also survived by her brother Bill Tomiski, sisters-in-law Audrey Tomiski and Fay Tomiski as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Marion will be sadly missed by her friends and especially her family.
