Mary (Molly) Moffett
It is with great sadness that I announce the sudden passing of Mary, my much loved mother, aunt, cousin and friend to many on October 25, 2024 at the age of 89 years.
Mary was born on November 4, 1934, the first child to Adam and Mary Wright of Edinburgh, Scotland. She was fourteen years old, along with her sister Etta, and their mum and dad when they came to Canada in 1948 to a new country and seek new opportunities. Foxwarren, Manitoba became home. My mother continued with school and upon graduating became a nurse. Mary nursed at the Shoal Lake hospital and the family moved to Ipswich. This is where my mother met Willard Moffett. Mary’s father Adam was the elevator grain agent for Manitoba Pool Elevators. My dad farmed and hauled grain there. In 1960 Mary and Willard were married. In 1962 they had a son, David.
They moved to Strathclair where dad farmed. Mary enjoyed gardening, curling, being at the Community Centre to visit her friends. She also liked being at the Strathclair Auction Mart, helping out there with meals, working with Ida Bradley and Betty Halm. Mum was a baker for the fair and did very well. She belonged to the United Church in Strathclair as well. Mary also liked to clogg, and had many crafts going as well, she was a very talented lady. She spent her last years of life at Morley House Personal Care Home in Shoal Lake.
Mary was predeceased by her parents, Adam and Mary, and sister Etta Wright. She is missed by her son David.
