Mercel Matiation

Mercel Walter Matiation of Shoal Lake, MB passed on July 22nd, 2020 at the age of 77 years.

Mercel was born on Dec 4th, 1942 in Shoal Lake, MB and was born the only child  to Andrew and Helen Matiation. He attend school in Kelloe and Shoal Lake and completed Grade 11 before entering the workforce.  On October 24th, 1964,  he married Marlene Stech and together they had three children.  Mercel enjoyed farming and after self-employment on the farm would eventually begin employment with Susinksi Farms where he remained for 25 years until retirement.  This was his “other” family.

Mercel was predeceased by his parents Andrew and Helen Matiation.  He is survived by his wife of 55 years Marlene;   sons: Greg (Karen) Matiation, Brad (Cindy) Matiation and daughter Marsha (Dennis) Curtis.  He was blessed with 7 grandchildren: Amanda (Blaine) Watson, Cody (Jaylene) Matiation, Tyler (Jolene) Matiation, Michael (Stefanie) Matiation, Kyle (Larissa) Curtis, Sidney Martel, Jeff Curtis.  Great Grandchildren; Karyssa, Maliah, Maddie, Nova, Nyla and one special addition on the way in the fall.  As well as Great- Great Grandson Emmett and foster-daughter Amber (Wade) Malinski.

Mercel was laid to eternal rest on July 27th, 2020 at the Shoal Lake Municipal Cemetery with family and friends in attendance.  The service was officiated by Rev. Chad McCharles at specific request of Mercel.  Eulogy was delivered by granddaughter Amanda Watson.  In addition Brenda Susinski delivered a special message for Mercelvon behalf of the Susinski family.

Pallbearers were his grandsons Cody, Michael, Kyle, Tyler, and Jeff, as well as Mike Susinski who was very special family addition to Mercel.  Honorary Pallbearers were friends: Nick Malchuk, Jim Lawson, Pete Wowryk, Harry Kokorudz, Stewart Warren, Johnny Malchuk, and Carl Wilkinson.
