Norma Kaskiw Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Norma on November 3, 2022 at home, at the age of 68 years.

Norma was a loving wife, sister, sister in-law and aunt.  She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband Clarence, brothers Tony and Stan, sister Evelyn, brother-in-law Vince Kaskiw, sisters-in-law Lynn Parr (Robert), Laurette Sabourin (Emile), numerous nieces and nephews, many friends and Norma’s cat Kiki.

Norma was predeceased by her parents, Nick and Anne Kuch, brother Bill, father and mother in-law Frank and Nellie Kaskiw.

Norma was born February 19, 1954 at Birtle, Manitoba. She spent her early years in Winnipeg returning to the Rossburn District with her mom and dad. She completed her education and graduated from Rossburn Collegiate Institute.  Norma then moved back to Winnipeg where she worked as a seamstress in a sewing factory.

After going to a dance at Olha, Clarence and Norma started dating and they were engaged on Christmas Day, 1984.  They were married at St. Theresa’s Roman Catholic Church, Rossburn, MB on August 31, 1985.  They were married 37 years.  They farmed together on the family farm at the Vista/Oakburn corner, until her passing.

Norma loved farm life and being outdoors.  She liked working with the cattle and named each and every one of them. She cried when any of them were sold. Norma loved to sing. She loved gardening, arts and crafts and loved making creations out of everyday ordinary things, taking much pride in them. Christmas was her favorite time of year. She loved company and welcoming them into her home.

Norma’s prayers were held on Wednesday, November 23, 2022 at St. Theresa’s Parish at 7:00 p.m. Her funeral mass was held at St. Theresa’s Parish, Rossburn, Manitoba on Thursday, November 24, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. with Father Paul Bisson officiating. Interment followed at the Parish cemetery.

Norma was carried to her final resting place by pallbearers Manley Mackedenski, Ashley Mackedenski, Sacha Sabourin, Dennis Kaskiw, Johnny Shmyr and Gary Muir.  Crossbearer was Amber-Lynn Parr.

You will remain in our hearts forever Norma.  Rest in peace.  Vichnaya Pam’yat!
