Patricia Livetsky Obituary

Patricia was born on the farm in Makaroff, Manitoba on September 19, 1948 to John Shastko and Julia Darowski. They had five children: Margaret, Stella, Patricia, Susan, and Michael. When Pat was eleven years old, the family decided to move to Rossburn, Manitoba, where she attended the Ruska Rawa Country School until she married Willis Livetsky on November 23, 1963, when she was 15 years old. For a short time, they lived with Margaret and Albert Kirsch in Yorkton, Saskatchewan. A month later, Pat and Willis moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba and Patricia started working at a sewing factory.

In April of 1964, Willis and Pat moved to the farm in the R.M. of Rossburn and started their career in farming.

In March of 1967, they had their first child, Darin, followed by Marvin in 1968, Connie in 1970 and finally Quentin in 1975.

Patricia worked hard on the farm, completing a variety of jobs like milking cows, looking after pigs and chickens, growing a garden and of course looking after her four bratty kids.

One day when Pat was milking cows, a skunk came into the barn. Pat, not knowing how to shoot a gun, used her hunting skills and grabbed a pitchfork pinning his tail down to prevent her from being sprayed. Then using Willis’ brand-new axe, she killed the skunk, saving countless chicken’s lives and her from a tomato bath. Willis was very upset after because Pat had dulled his new axe by hitting the cement floor.

After a few years farming, Patricia took a job at the N & L Restaurant in 1983. Patricia catered many weddings in the years she worked there. Somewhere around 1995, Patricia retired from the restaurant.

Patricia and Willis continued to farm together until Willis passed away on September 14, 2017. Pat continued to live on the farm, enjoying her gardening, animals, and spending time with her six grandchildren.

Patricia always spoiled her family with terrific meals. Whether family or friends, no one left the house hungry, especially on Thanksgiving and Christmas, when she would prepare all the Ukrainian dishes.

Unfortunately, in January of 2020, Pat had a stroke and had to move to a personal care home where she lived for the remainder of her life. On January 3, 2022, Patricia passed away at the Sandy Lake Personal Care Home.

Patricia was predeceased by her father John, mother Julia, brother-in-law Albert, sister Stella, and husband Willis.

She is survived by her children: Darin (Angela), Marvin (Lucky), Connie (Keven), and Quintin (Dana), and her grandchildren: Shelby and Ben, Jessica and Colton, and Danielle and Matthew.

She is also survived by her three siblings: Margaret, Susan, and brother Michael (Karen) and numerous nieces and nephews.

Patricia was loved by all her family and friends and will be dearly missed.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
