Richard William Lewandoski of Sandy Lake
Passed away June 19, 2024 at Home in Sandy Lake at the age of 77 years.
Richard was born in Minnedosa on February 17, 1947. He attended Coldwell school until 1955 and continued the remainder of his education at Sandy Lake school. In 1966-67 Richard attended Assiniboine Community College in Brandon, MB obtaining a certificate in heavy duty mechanics.
In 1968 he moved to Calgary, AB and worked at Fruehauf trailer company for three years and managed to come home every summer to help on the farm. Richard also received his welding certification from Southern Alberta Institute of Technology.
Richard met his wife Bonita Schnell in Calgary and on Nov 6, 1971, they were married in Medicine Hat, AB. In the spring of 1972, they moved back to the home place of Richard’s parents and eventually purchased and moved onto the Joe Borys farm. Richard joined the farm operation which became his occupation until the time of his passing.
Richard was active in his community. He was part of the Ducks Unlimited committee, School Board Trustees, Municipality of Harrison Park councilor and Sandy lake L.U.D. Over the years Richard loved farming, curling, year-round fishing and helping out anyone in need.
Richard will always be known for his willingness to help, his sense of humor, his problem-solving abilities, his hard work ethic and his humble nature. The stories we have to tell about Curly will last a lifetime!

Surviving are wife Bonita Lewandoski and two daughters Melissa Kuzioria and Kristin Kuzyk and grandchildren Hazel and Evan.
Also surviving are two brothers Raymond and Dennis Lewandoski and sister Gloria Campbell.
Celebration of life will be held on July 27, 2024, at 10am to 12pm at the Sandy Lake Drop-in center.
