Robert (Bob) Edwin Isbister
My heart is saddened to announce the passing of my husband Bob at home on May 11,
2024 at the age of 75. Bob was born in Winnipeg on July 10 1948 and grew up there. Bob first worked as a welder and worked on the dams up north at Nelson River. He also worked up at Tuktoyaktuk NWT welding barges. He worked for many companies in Winnipeg welding and was proud of all the CWE tickets he had for welding different high pressure plates and pipes, different metals and positions. Later he decided to be a painter. When we moved to Oakburn from Winnipeg, he continued to paint and then worked for the Park West School Division (Painter Bob) until retirement.
Bob loved sports and in his younger days, he was an avid hockey player and played on the Melville Millionaires in Sask and at that time a stepping stone to the Boston Bruins, but a broken leg ended that dream. He loved baseball and played for the Selkirk fastball team and was the youngest on the team. The team traveled around the province and even played in Oakburn. He loved classic cars and enjoyed his 1977 Corvette and went to many car shows and met many wonderful people. He really enjoyed watching the wildlife and especially loved his cat, Sarah. He had a lot of close friends of many years who knew him best as Izzy since grade school.
Bob, the youngest of a family of 6, was predeceased by his parents Clarence and Dianne Isbister, his brothers Bruce and Garnet, and his sisters Audrey, Grace and Joan.
Left to cherish his memories his wife, Catherine, mother-in-law Agnes Hogberg, brother
in law Christopher Hogberg (George Ann) and many of his nephews, especially Robert
Kolt, and nieces.
If friends and family so desire, donations may be made to the Wpg or Brandon Humane
Society or the Siloam Mission in Wpg.
A special thanks to the paramedics, RCMP and Rae’s Funeral for all the kind words.
It is with sincere gratitude that I thank everyone for their expressions of sympathy during
this very difficult time has given me great comfort and forever be remembered.
Bob will be forever missed and always in my heart.
Catherine
