Ron Gawiuk of Elphinstone, Manitoba passed away suddenly on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at the Minnedosa Hospital.
Ron was raised in Elphinstone, Manitoba and obtained his education there. Ron had moved to Winnipeg with a desire for adventure, but soon realized, he had to work to earn a living. That is where he met his wife. Ron and Janice (Pasternack) married on June 26, 1971. In order to raise his family, he had an opportunity to move back to Elphinstone on an original quarter on the family farm. After trying his hand at farming and discovering it wasn’t really for him, he pursued other avenues. He worked locally for other farmers, at the Elphinstone rink as caretaker, driving the school bus from Elphinstone to Rossburn, hauling logs in the Swan River area and finally, became a semi truck driver for 20 years.
Ron loved going on road trips, camping, fishing, hiking and spotting wildlife. In his recent years, he enjoyed relaxing and enjoying cups of coffee with his friends, especially in Clear Lake.
Ronald is predeceased by his parents, Steve and Jean Gawiuk.
Leaving to mourn are his Wife, Janice, son Nick, brother Richard (Myrt); 2 sisters Jayne Marshall (Wayne McLeod) and Kelly Snyder (Russ), along with many extended family members.
