It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Sheila Diane Purdy on September 22 , 2025 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre after suffering a brief battle with cancer. She had just turned 65 on August 7th of this year and was to have received her first OA Pension cheque this month.
The graveside service is to be held at The Bend Cemetery, Strathclair, under the guidance of Bishop Chad McCharles on Friday, October 24, 2025 at 11:00 a.m.
Sheila Diane (Boulanger) was born on August 7, 1960, in Shoal Lake, being the last baby born to Dan & Aline Boulanger. She was the youngest sibling to Hal Boulanger, Karen Glenn , and Daryl Boulanger . She attended school in Shoal Lake. In 1981 she married Darcy Purdy. Together they had two (2) sons, Scott Ronald Purdy, born June 3rd, 1983 and Dean Thomas Purdy, born October 16th, 1984.
Sheila loved sports and the outdoors! She particularly loved spending time up north with her boys and eventually grandsons. She worked in the health care field for many years as well as being an ambulance attendant.
Sheila moved from the farm to Souris about 30 years ago, where she met another love in her life, Bill Douglas. They would go on to have over 30 years together, living both in Souris and up north on one of the Purdy Farms. She loved to quad and sit by a bonfire with friends!
Sheila was predeceased by her husband, Darcy Purdy, her parents Dan & Aline Boulanger, her sister, Karen Glenn and her brother, Daryl Boulanger.
Sheila leaves to mourn her life-partner, Bill Douglas, her two sons, Scott & Dean and her 3 grandsons, Dayce, Wyatt & Waylon, daughter-in-law Meredith Purdy many nieces, nephews and cousins and friends! She had a special bond with her high-school friends, namely, Alice, Kim & Barb and probably more that I am forgetting to mention.
