With profound sadness we bid farewell to Shelley Glenn of Strathclair, Manitoba. Shelley, aged 62, passed away peacefully and unexpectedly in her home on April 12, 2024. Her impactful spirit left a mark on all who knew her, serving as a beacon of resilience and strength for her family, friends, and the community at large.
Shelley was preceded by her beloved husband of 33 years, Don Glenn, in 2014. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Diana, Susan, and Derek (Lacey), as well as her grandchildren, Sage, Maci, and Charlie - her greatest source of pride and joy. Also mourning her loss are siblings, Blaine Wareham (Cathy), Dennis Wareham (Theresa), Rick Wareham (Cinta), Debbie Moffat (Murray), and Crystal Watson (Tom), along with their children and their families.
Born on November 8, 1961, in Minnedosa Manitoba, Shelley was one of six siblings raised on the family farm southwest of Newdale. Her love for farming ran deep, rooted in a strong connection to the land and soil. She found solace in the simplicity of small-town farm life, relishing in the closeness of family and the opportunity to raise her children in the local community.
Throughout high school, Shelley's greatest passion was playing sports, she was a dedicated member of 4-H and a huge music lover. Following her graduation from Strathclair Community School in 1979, Shelley crossed paths with Don, and their love story unfolded. They exchanged vows in 1981 in Newdale, setting the stage for a life centered on farming and family near Strathclair.
After earning her degree in administration with honors from the University of Manitoba in 1988, Shelley embarked on a career path in municipal affairs. Serving as the chief administrative officer for the Rural Municipality of Harrison, later assuming the same role for the RM of Strathclair until her retirement. Throughout life Shelley always dedicated time to the community and volunteer work she cared about. Most notably, local curling, minor hockey, the Brier, coaching youth baseball, and mentoring as a 4-H leader. Her commitment to community extended into most local initiatives and organizations, including the Strathclair Ag Society, Strathclair Museum Society, Little Saskatchewan River Game and Fish Association, and many others. Shelley’s desire to strengthen and enrich the community for future generations will be greatly missed.
