It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Steve Shindela on May 12, 2024, at the age of 96. Steve passed away at the Sandy Lake Personal Care Home after a brief battle with dementia.

Steve was born June 29, 1927, in Harrison Municipality. He married Helen Borys October 26, 1949.
Steve was predeceased by his wife Helen, parents John and Katie, his brothers Charlie (Lillian), Frank (Irene), and sisters Lynda Roy (Fred) and Bernice Sikora (Joe).

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters Geraldine Ferguson (Garry), Louise Follows (George) and son Leslie (Sheri), and grandchildren Cody and Paige, sisters Gail Bolton (Harold), Veronica Sichewski and numerous nieces and nephews.

Steve enjoyed a successful career as a farmer in the Sandy Lake area. Steve and Helen retired from farming in the 1980s and moved to Erickson.

 
Friends are invited to meet the family on Friday May 31, 2024 between 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Rae’s Funeral Chapel, Erickson.

If friends and family so desire, donations may be made to the Sandy Lake personal Care Home or their favorite charity.

A graveside service will take place on Saturday, June 1, 2024 from St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Cemetery, Jackfish at 11:30 a.m.
