It is with heavy hearts we announce our dads passing on Friday, January 14, 2022, at the St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Ted leaves to cherish his memory his sons; Robert (Darlene), Larry, Lyle (Paula), daughter Kelly (Dennis) Sheeshka, grandchildren; Braeden, Reiss (Melissa), Karlie and Justin, great granddaughter Ivy as well as brother Ed, sisters; Lil (Orville) Strand, Marsha (AI) Bourdon, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Dad was predeceased by his wife Olga, son Melvin and parents Kathleen and Nicholas Zurbyk.
Ted was born in Elphinstone, Manitoba and attended school there. On November 20th, 1954 he married mom (Olga Bain). They continued to live in Elphinstone and raised five children. Ted had many different jobs over the years. Twenty-three years as a school bus driver, clerk at the department store in town, employee at Riding Mountain National Park in maintenance and helping on the family farm.
Over the years Ted enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, making maple syrup, family barbeques, getting together with other couples to play cards and most of all in the last few years playing bingo.
Due to health reasons dad and mom moved from their house in Elphinstone to the Morley House Personal Care Home in Shoal Lake. Shortly after mom passed away in 2017, dad moved to a nursing home (Meadowood Manor, Winnipeg) to be closer to his children. We loved having dad close to us in the city, being able to spend quality time with him and creating wonderful memories that we will always cherish. He was quiet, gentle and had his own style of humour that always put a smile on our face. He was someone we were proud to call our dad and will miss him dearly. Rest in peace dad.
