Wilbert (Wimpy) Jacobson Obituary

Peacefully passed away on August 22, 2020 at the Erickson Personal Care Home.

Wimpy was born on October 4, 1927 in the RM of Clanwilliam in his maternal Grandparents home.  The fourth child of Ernie and Hilma Jacobson.  Wimpy married Pat Leonard in July 1947 and they had 3 children, Brent, Brenda and Bryan.

Wimpy lived all his life within 5 miles of his birth, yet he travelled over four million accident free miles in his profession as a Truck Driver.  He enjoyed a good game, playing hockey and baseball in his younger years, and in his later years was always a dedicated and faithful fan.  He never missed an auction sale.  He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and hunting deer, moose, elk, ducks.  The first fall in the Care Home he was saddened to realize it was the first time since he was 12 years old that he wouldn’t be hunting.

Family and friends were important and always enjoyed a good visit, laugh and talk.  Wimpy loved animals, and his many dogs through the years, especially enjoying his last dog Arby coming to visit him at the care home and curling up in his arms.

Wimpy was predeceased by his wife Pat, youngest son Bryan, his parents, and his siblings brother Walter (Evelyn), sisters Helen Renneberg (Paul), and Doris Cartwright (Cliff).

He is survived by his son Brent (Dianne), daughter Brenda Selensky (Lyle), and daughter-in-law Wilma Braun.  Wimpy’s many grandchildren and their spouses, Kelly Kryshewski (Larry), Blair Jacobson (Sharlyn), Leonard Selensky, Shawna Selensky, Patrick Selensky (Sophie), Corey Selensky (Desiree), Kellen Selensky (Amanda), Katie Selensky (Josh), Rebeckah Selensky (Steve).  Wimpy was blessed with 22 Great Grandchildren and 12 Great Great Grandchildren and two very special life long friends Lawrence Gushulak and Lorne Sanford.
